Hi! Im Kristina, I'm a mommy of a 11 month old and I have a very busy schedule. I'm currently 200 lbs.and 5'2. I would like to get to my prepregnancy weight of 140. I recently joined a gym, and i was wondering is it possible to lose 60 lbs in 6 1/2 mos following a "L.A. weight loss"nutritional program and the free FT program working out 3 days a week to start and gradually building up??? is this a realistic goal or am i dreaming?

Hi Kristina...

Welcome to FT.. the average healthy weight loss is about two to three pounds a week... you'll lose more weight than that in the first few weeks because of water... so, mathematically it eight to 12 pounds a month... so, ya, if you're careful about your diet and diligent about exercise, you could lose up to 72 pounds in six months...

Good luck, follow the plan, eat healthy and ask questions and you're on your way!

Your goal is definitely possible- and more power to you if you are able to do it. Just be careful not to get burned out too fast- it seems people who push too hard too fast also sizzle fast. Unfortunately I'm speaking from experience also. I lost 40 pounds in just over 4 months- went to the gym 6 days a week, all that good stuff. Then I hit a plateau, as many of us do, and got extremely discouraged. That is the point you need to be careful for. Now I have literally had to start from square one- and this time I have chosen to be more sensible with my goals.

thanx for the advice and encouragement. And for the bday wishes to my daughter :) And I know exactly wut ur talking about kaiaw, i lost 40 lbs in 3 mos a couple years ago. I plateaued and got discouraged, put 15 lbs of it back on.So, I know all about being careful when that happens! My real probs started when I met my fiance - got comfy, gained a lil more, soon after got pregnant gained a lil more. LoL and after that I went threw postpar. depression due to my daughter having to stay in the NICU for 51 days (she was 3 mos early), then she came home, everything was crazy with many dr apps.,gained more, now that everything is ok, besides the daily stress of being a house wife, full time mommy, and buisness owner,(LOL) ive decided i NEED to get back to my old size! Good luck with all of ur goals everyone!

losing weight shouldn't be your goal, it should be more centered around losing inches in your waist and such, weight may be an inaccurate way of measuring your increasing/decreasing fitness, for example muscle weighs more than fat, so if you were planning on losing 60lbs you might gain a few pounds of muscle in the process, i would suggest taking weekly measurements with a measuring device
