I want to get rid of the dark circles under my eyes as it makes me look too tired and beat down. I know vitamin K is supposed to work some but I've heard that's fallacious and it's hard to do a search on questions like this because you mostly wind up with sale sites. Also, I'm not looking to hide it, ala makeup, but rid it.

Do you know what this is due to? I think that it's due to lack of sleep. I'm not really sure though. Try sleeping more often. Try getting anywhere from 8-10 hours of sleep a night. I don't know if this will work or not. I've never researched this question myself. My mom always tells me that if I don't get enough sleep that that is going to happen to me. That might just be it though. Hope this helps.
(even though lack of sleep might not be leading to this, it is a good idea to get 8-10 hours of sleep a night anyways.)

Have the same problem. I heard you cant fix it without a plastic surgeon. :-(

This is going to sound funny but it's true and it works for me. Rub a little Preparation H there and the bags and circles are gone. Only a temporary cosmetic fix but I sure look better! Models use it ... although I'm sure they have some "Hollywood Better" product instead. LOL

Bags and circles are different. Bags are swollen eyes, so to speak, and circles are thin skin under the eyes- the dark circles you see is actually blood. There are over the counter products that claim to work, but I don't know that they do.

From what I've seen on this subject it's caused by a lack of nutrition. Only one way to fix that.
Did find some more causes here though :
http://allergies.about.com/od/darkcircles/a/aa071304.htm
and here :
http://my.webmd.com/content/article/64/72258.htm?z=4051_00000_7000_tl_02#5
Basically those say that everything from nutrition, lack of rest, to allergies can cause it (among other things). Just gotta experiment and see what works for you.

Just based on the time of year, I'm going to guess that you have what are referred to as allergic shiners.
