Hello all,
I have been working out an average of 3 times a week for 4 months now. I took all your advice and really cleaned up my diet(no more cookies and hot chocolate for the past month).
The weight has only started coming of in the last 3 weeks. But even then I fluctuate...e.g I lost 4 lbs 3 weeks ago, when I last weighed myself I had gained 3 lbs back and yesterday lost 1 lb. This is all maintaining the same diet and exercise plan. I have about 20 - 30 lbs to and I had given myself 7 months to shed it, but at this pace its taking too long.
I just want to know if its normal to see fluctuations like this.

could be water weight fluctuations...I am assuming you're a female...this is even more common than in males....due hormonal changes(especially around period time)....
gallon of water is 8lb ...if you retain more water with increased sodium or just hormonal changes, or whatever else that could be the cause
also as you progress in your workouts and nutrition you should be gaining some muscle...since muscle weighs more than fat...your fat loss is offset by some muscle gain ...
I am a guy and I have fluctuations of up to 8-10 lb sometimes when I drink a lot of water(some days I can easily drink over a gallon)....

One of the best (and hardest) thing to do is to NOT weigh yourself except for every week or so.
Alternatively, you may try tracking the weight of your fat - opposed to your dead weight. That's what you care about anyway.
Say you weigh 150 pounds and your 25% BF - that'll be 37.5 lbs of fat (150 * .25). Two days from now, you weight 152 lbs, but your BF comes out to be 24.7%, you've got 37.54 lbs of fat now (150 * .247), so in actuality you just about stayed even.
It helps even out the ups and downs of water weight and natural flutations. It's not that hard. Quite frankly, weight wise, it's the fat your trying to lose anyway. Track that.

Hi,
I don't go by my weight but the inches lost. Believe me that is a much better reward for your hard work.
