The nutrition system says I need 7000 calories on my diet?

Doing my math, at 500 pounds sedentary I would only need about 4800 calories to maintain; about 5500 if I was doing moderate activity and maybe 6000 if I was really active - and that's all to just maintain my current weight.

Losing weight is supposed to be simple in principle: take in less calories and increase activity. How can the 7k calories be right?

Also, where are the actual fitness plans? I only see:

Monday - Train
Tues- Rest
etc.

That isn't a fitness plan, is it?

I get a minimum of 5000 calories at 500 lbs, but you will get better results if you track what you eat for a week and figure out your average daily intake - then you can gradually adjust up or down from there. At 500 pounds, you want to feed your muscle mass and not your fat. If you can, get your body composition done by a trainer with calipers.

Go to the button that says exercise programs, it will have a place to fill out your goals, etc and then you can choose what type of program you want to do.

Losing weight is simple in principle, but trickier when applied. You need to eat enough to keep your body from thinking you are starving and you need to eat foods that will maintain your muscle mass and not cause large insulin responses.

Stick with lean protein, fibrous vegetables and whole grains. Whole fruits at breakfast. Stay away from juice, soda, sugar, junk foods, refined foods.

There is an excellent list in the nutrition section called 'grocery list for healthy eating' if you eat 5-6 small meals a day, based on those food choices, you should feel good and get your metabolism revved up so you can lose weight.

Good luck and welcome to ft!
