Anyone out there with this condition, and also weight trains? Please give me advise. Does this heal on it's own or what?

I have two herniated discs on the other end LOL! In addition I also have Degenerative Disc Disease. My condition has been ongoing for the past 7 years and unfortunately, due to another more serious medical condition, surgery and medication are not an option.
I will tell you that since I have lost weight and been participating in an exercise program the symptoms are much more bearable.
Try to avoid movements or exercises that compress the area or cause undo pressure, pain or twisting. A good rule of thumb is if it causes you to have sharp pains DON'T DO IT!!
You should be able to build a fine lifting routine working around the area in question. I would think bench presses, curls, most lat exercises and total lower body workouts would be tolerated nicely. Shoulder exercise may be more problematic since they tend to put a strain on the neck in an indirect sort of way.
Best of luck and remember that it could be worse.
