I want to build up some mass, and at the same time get a six pack on the go. I read that to get a good six pack, u have to do cardio at least 5 times a week for about 30-45mins each. But also read here, if you want to bulk up, maybe cut down cardio to 2 days a week. Can anyone give me advice to achieve both of these things?
Cheers.

lol. Well i have to tell you that you can not do both. I have been trying to do what you are asking for a year now and its impossible. You will need to first bulk up and you will definetly gain some fat maybe not much if u stick to a protein diet. but your six pack will start fading due to the fat. but you will do cardio and lift but not as much after you bulk up. but to answer your question. no. If you figure something out let me know!

What I do is a 8 week bulking phase, where I gain a little fat and a lot of muscle. You do not get a six pack during this period. Then you take a week or two of a rest period, to help let your muscles recover. Then you go into a cutting phase, where you trim the fat off that you gained, while still building a little, but not much, muscle. Then repeat.
That is how you build mass, and earn a six pack in the process :)

Hey paul, they all say you cant get a 6 pack and build mass at the same time however I disagree. Im trying to accomplish the same thing and am definately seeing results. I guess it could just be wishful thinking from all the lifting and healthy eating im doing but i truley believe within the last few months ive made huge improvements in mass (gained about 6-8 pounds) and my 6 pack is even more noticable. I think its a mix of a good portion of cardio, heavy lifting, healthy eating and sleep. I used to just lift and try and take in protein here and there after a workout. However, now ive been watching everything im eating. I take protein shakes after a workout and sometimes first thing in the morning with my oatmeal. I make sure to eat complex carbs- brown rice, sweet potato. I ry and take in lots of protein throughout the day - fish, nuts, beans, chicken, just to name a few. And to go along with all of this take in a few servings of veggies and fruits. Im also always hydrating myself drinking tonnes of water a day.
Ive cut out all the bad stuff. I used to eat alot of canned foods for instance chef boyardee. Also pizzas and other microwavable foods. With this id usually drink a coke or some iced tea. Ive cut all that out. I stick to the foods i talked about earlier and I only drink water, juice and skim milk. ( every 2-3 weekends beer becomes and exception :)) I hope changing your ways helps you feeling and looking better! And for any of you out there that have seen similar results (gain mass-lose fat) or believe my mirror is in fact lieing to me let me know, id appreciate it! Hope i helped!

Thanks ram84. Yeah, I've cut out all junk food and alcohol. Not had any of that stuff in 2 months and I'm already seeing good results. Everyday is the same for eating and it's not that bad to be honest. I'm never really tempted by other food cos I'm always stuffed, cos I have about 7 meals a day. All the good stuff like tuna and chicken. I'm taking pictures every month to see the progess I've been making, so maybe I'll post them up here when I get that 6 pack I've always wanted.

rm84. To keep or take the weight off to see a 6-pack you have to do a lot of cardio. If I'm not mistaken, doing a lot of cardio as well as adding mass is too much and will leave you far too exhausted. There simply isn't enough time for both.
I understand that you're talking about eating habits, but unless you already have the weight off, you wont see the abs.
