Hi! I have a quick question. I am interested in starting a circuit training program. I have recently lost about 40 lbs just doing cardio (after having my daughter). I am wanting some muscle tone. I have heard that circut training is the way to go. Can anyone give me a good program to start on. I have searched this web site and really didnt find what I was looking for. I would like something that is kind of girlie:). Like, i dont want to run for two minutes then go do a 80lb bench press. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

The term "circuit training" really just applies to a program that targets all of the muscle groups in the same session. You could either tailor an FT program and "manually" transform it into a circuit or purchase a piece of gym equipment that serves the same purpose. Do some google searches and also check out this website: http://www.shapesforwomen.com/?source=gct

Good luck!

Firstly, congratulations on the 40lbs. That's a big deal. You're quite the success story!

Why do you want to do circuit training, out of curiosity? What have you heard in that it is the 'way to go'?

How many days a week are you training?

Depending on your answer, I may just choose a "regular" program that targets muscle groups and throw cardio in and around those. The programs here (I can speak for 2 of them) really have helped me.

Why thank you:love:!! Well I have lost the weight, and now I feel "fluffy". I know thats not a real word- but it best describes it. :) I thought circut training would help me to become girlie cut. I dont want gigantic muscles to compete or anything like that, I just want to be fit in a toned way. (I know I can't describe it very well:() This link is perfect for what I eventually want to look like: http://www.ccgdata.com/prodimg/0614-12.jpg

Yes it is...I looked it up.

Main Entry: fluffy
Pronunciation: 'fl&-fE
Function: adjective
Inflected Form(s): fluff·i·er; -est
1 a : covered with or resembling fluff b : being light and soft or airy <a fluffy omelet>
2 : lacking in meaning or substance : SUPERFICIAL 2c
- fluff·i·ly /'fl&-f&-lE/ adverb
- fluff·i·ness /'fl&-fE-n&s/ noun

I learned a lot about circuit training by googling it...there's many different concepts of circuit training but I think rpacheco is right by saying "applies to a program that targets all of the muscle groups in the same session". Essentially the idea is to get your heart rate up with some cardio, then do weights while keeping your the elevated heartrate. However it gets complex to keep your heart rate up when your fatigued so do one set of each excercise at a time for say 30(i.e. 30 seconds of abs, 30 seconds of arms, 30 seconds of legs, rinse and repeat). However you don't want to use max weight, and you don't want to push to exhaustion either. Just enough to keep working your muscles with the elevated heart rate.

Do some looking around and you can find sample circuits to do and then you can build yours to whatever is easiest for you whether you have a gym you go to or at home...both are possible. I'll do some checking on the ones I found and post you some examples later.

Good luck!
