I'm getting married in the Bahamas in July, and so want to lose about 10 lbs or so to prepare for the bathing-suit event. :) My problem is that I've been exercising for about 6 weeks now, watching what I eat (around 1200-1400 calories usually, but I've always eaten light my entire life, only the past 2-3 years I've been pretty sedentary)and not lost a single lb, or even inch. My exercising consists of 30-45 min of power walking 5 days/week when I first wake up, with 10-15 min of light upper body weightlifting about 3 days/week. I know it's not all about the weight, but I'm not even firming up or losing inches! Can anyone help? I'm getting really frustrated here! Thanks!

severe calorie restriction diets are counter productive....stick with 1500-1700 calorie diet or more....depending on your heigh/weight/gender.......stick with lean proteins with about 1gram of protein per 1lb of bodyweight.....focus eating complex carbohydrates....(yams, sweet potatoes, brown rice, buckwheat, 100% rye, lentils,etc)...and healthy fats(nuts, avacadoes, virgin olive oil, etc......)
you also need to lift with heavier weights...'light weights' accomplish right about 0.....because it's light your body doesn't need to work hard.....you need to lift at least 60% of your maximum for 1 rep....to get any benefits...at least for strength training component of weight lifting....you also would get most benefits out of big compound movements...like squats, deadlifts, pull ups, dips.....this is how you will succeed....
