My favourite sport has been for about six years now Rockclimbing. I used to go three times a week and reached a bouldering grade of V5/6 but I finished uni and got a job! Booooooooo:( and eventually slowed going to about once a week losing a lot of skill.

I wasnt ever really big, picture to the left is maximum I ever was back then (its about a year old) but I found I had a lot of strength due to the sport, especially upper body and explosive strength (for jumps or "dyno's").

Now ive settled into my new job im taking it back up alongside the Gym which currently is mon/wed/fri so I plan to go on tues/thurs and poss sat. Thing is if I go on a tuesday after working my arms and chest on monday say, It will possibly have detremental results? Depending on my recovery time?

So is there any other climbers in here or am I all alone? Im just wondering how you go about rotating your workout days with climbing days? Do you fit in any extra cardio? Any gym exercises you wish to share to help compliment climbing?

Cheers for reading as I dont half waffle on sometimes :)

I would try to avoid climbing....after heavy legs/bi/back days.....leg power and grip strength are essential for rock climbing.....those exercises tend to compromise those factors and your performance can suffer....

I would do it after a chest/tri day...or wait 2+ days (depending on intensity fo your workouts and how quickly you're able to recover)after leg/bicep/back days to do it.........
