I am confused about the weight and # of reps to do. I have been training for about 3 months now and am 5'2 115 now. I have gained good muscle doing 3 sets of 10 at the heaviest I could lift. After I go to 3 sets of 12 I up my weight and begin at 10 again. I am not big now but have recently heard that this was the way to get bigger. I don't want to get bigger but want to keep/gain strength. Is this a good way to build lean muscle mass or is higher reps/lower weight better? Also if so what is optimal? Thanks in advance.

you're a female...you naturally don't have the testosterone production of a male....so you're very very unlikely to become very muscular....so feel free to train as heavy as you feel comfortable...training in the 6-12 reps...is effective...try to do a pyramid or reverse pyramid......6,8,10,12 or 12,10,8,6...or do straight sets of 8,8,8,8 for example......

I know I don't have the testerone to get big but I have seen a lot of girls (even friends) get bigger and more muscular than I want to be, I guess I was just wondering if my size would increase more w/ those kind of reps.
