I was just curious on everyones opinions.........i see alot of people asking how to look like somone , or be like somone alot on here.

I bust my butt alot in the gym, so do alot of other people on here........but realisticly how much of it can we honestly control?

Can we honestly redesign are whole body? By are will power.......or will our genetics stop us?

just curious about opinions?

I'll take a stab at this, I would have to say that you really can't compare yourself to anyone because of genetics. genetics will determine how much of those extra calories goes to building muscle and and how much energy will be pulled from fat or muscle when trying to loose weight not too mention which muscles will grow at a faster rate ie. biceps or triceps ect. But i don't think this means that if you don't have genetics you can't have the body you want i just think this means not everybody has the ability to have the body of a dexter jackson or an arnold shwarzenegger. With hard work and determination you can achieve the results you want it may take some longer and harder to get here but it can be done. my .02

Building up strength or body is will power, the limit to which you can build up to is genetics. I think the limits are very far though so using genetics for not getting the body you want is not really an excuse...unless your aiming for Mr.Universe.

somthing that I heard the other day by plato intrigued me......"Your minds eye is the only eye"

I just think alot ( including myself) have pictured what we wanna look like in our minds. Same way when I draw somthing.......the idea is in my head......but when i draw it on paper it looks nothing like they way I "pictured" it in my mind. Looks crappy compared to what i wanted it to look like.

I was thinking kinda along the lines that 70% of what we can do is under our own willpower, traing diet etc. the 30% will come from genetics .....anymore?

From what I've studied so far, I'd say genetics doesn't guarantee us nor does it doom us.
We all have our own DNA and RNA and we have to work with what we have.
The training we do is what will change our shape and health.
Hope my 2 cents makes sense.

I think genetics predispose us to be successful at certain things...but we still must work hard to achieve that potential...I think with a little bit of creativity and hard work, nothing is out of reach...each person has to find his/her strong points and while working to improve the weaker aspects of oneself....

As long as the body you are aspiring to is similar in shape/frame and natural - you can certainly reshape and build your dream physique.
I believe that you have to have a strong vision in your mind of what you want to look like - but that can be extremely hard if you have never looked a certain way or felt how it is to be a certain way. It helped me make a huge change by acting as if I already had the physique I was striving for - holding myself the way a lean, muscular person with good posture would, feeding my body the things a champion would, making rest a priority the way a pro would. I think when you act the part/model your behavior after someone who has succeeded where you are trying to, it really moves you towards your goals.

'If you can see it, you can be it'

I don't know if yall remember, but back in the day of my highschool posts talking about not being fast enough, strong enough , good enough, or good looking enough, because of my genetics, but I think that it takes sometime for your genetics to play through you, if you see what I'm saying.
Ever since I've turned 18 my strength, speed, athleticism, have been going through the roof in Gains and great improvements. But it's still kind of weird I think that the guys in my family say they could bench 1.5 to 2 times their body weight, and berely do squats, where as I can squat twice my body weight, and bench 230 where I only weigh 205.

thats just cause you body matures....and more hormones are being released, mianly testasterone which increases muscle mass, which will help in speed and strength.

I was refering along the lines as a 130lb kid that wants to be a powerlifter, and bench 1000 lbs

Or somone with my body type(endomorph) wanting to be a body builder?

I think we're genetically limited in most activities....so that only few gifted individuals can become elite in any given activity.....but that doesn't mean you can't become good/great at it....

I think you can become a good bodybuilder no matter your build....you just will have to train more intensely and plan everything out more cafefully...Do I think you'll be the next Ronnie Coleman? Probably Not....One of the elite? Probably Not either...but realistically not everyone can be Michael Jordan...but we can still become pretty good in any given activity....

Whenever I bench I don't think 'well what's the point...I'll never bench more than the record 1005lb now'....I bench just to become strong compared to myself and 99.9% of people in the world...I mean consider the fact that if I eventually will bench 500lb...it will be less than 1/2 of the world record...yet it's probably better than 99% of people in the world....am I limited in away? Ofcourse...I don't have the wide built of Gene Ryachek or perhaps short arms...or whatever else he has that genetically predisposed him to become so good......but my will and desire to become strong/er...will still push me to be as good/great as 'I' can be....
