I have been working at Gold's Gym for a little while now and and it is kinda depressing for me. I mean I know I am no body builder but I know I am fit and have a fairly decent shape. (by the way the pic is really old) But when people come in that I can see are ripped, huge and very intimidating I just kinda crawl up in a ball in the corner. On the other hand it makes me want to keep pressing on with the goals that I have with nutrition and fitness. That is why I like this site and the encouragement it gives me too. So thanx to all that are in if for everyone but themselves.

Hey - you look good and you are healthy. The really big, intimidating guys are probably on the juice.

Keep pressing forward!

Worry about you, when I am in the gym I am focused on what I am doing not some other muscle head.

lexballer there are 2 sides to a coin....instead of being discouraged by those big guys...why don't you try to approach some of them and ask them for advice or questions when they are resting...many of them are very nice people and will gladly offer you advice...I often ask them for a spot or advice about certain things when I ecounter them...and they always seem to have some good insight...remember those guys often train for many many years before getting that way...

Asimmer not to nitpick but that's a bad assumption to make...there are quite a few people are like toothpicks and always have a tendency to assume I am juicing in my gym and at work(because i am the biggest guy in my gym)....some people actually asked what i am using/where i get it from(for the record I have never done any type of drug, steroids or other, cigarretes, or weed...and I pride myself on that)....on one side it's flattering...on another it's annoying and ignorant...just because someone is strong or an accomplished lifter doesn't mean he/she is juicing...it takes years and years of dedication in many instances(yes with current sports scandals that's all we see on tv...but even so it's an abnormality...most people don't..)....I'm really sorry but your comment just rang really close to home...I think mostly people who just need excuses say that off the bat....(not saying you in particular or you at all...just people in real life who I hear say it)....these are also the same people I see train once a month or less...while talking the whole 2 hours they are there....

lexballer as I was saying...if you don't have the courage to just walk up and chat with them...then just stay focused on what you're there to do...bring a player to listen music...plus it's always nice to ask a guy for a spot and know that they will know how to or can in general...(hearing 'i'll try but i don't know if can' is not too reassuring...lol).....stay focused....you can do it...it becomes a routine after a while...just one of the things you do during the week....

I totally understand! I get the same way when I see the girls in there with nice toned slim bodies. :-| But then I realize that I've only been at this for a very short period and remember it took me 3 yrs to lose 80lbs and get to where I am now. I look forward to seeing myself three years from now! :-) Remembering that it takes time is the key for me. And this board is definitely a great support! Thanks guys! ;-D

Keep your chin up!

well thanx guys and menace not to brag or anything but I believe I have the knowledge to workout my own way because I have listened to those guys before and I have done research on it. I know I am my own person and I don't really want to be that big just kinda model type. I went ahead an spoke with one of the "big guys" at the gym and it went very well. I need to learn not to judge people rather respect them for their years and years of training that they have so diligently put their minds to. Thanks for chattin.

I am glad you are finding your way of doing things....that's the toughest thing to learn....you can absorb a lot of information....but then the hard part is doing trial and error approach of seeing what works for you.... I am also glad that you spoke with one of those 'big guys'...lol....because as you have found out for yourself...most of them are very nice and social people and are glad to help you out with your questions......gl with your training
