Are you supposed to calculate your RHR when barely conscious or when awake but sitting quietly? Hubby and I got the mioShape watches that have a chronometer and will calculate calories burned, BUT we slightly disagree on what number should be input as our RHR. I had used my 'first thing in the morning' rate of 71, but he took my pulse while I was dozing and said it was closer to 60 which might be why I wasnt registering as many calories burned as I thought I could have. Anyone know what is the most accurate? Thanks.

I think you are supposed to do first thing in the morning when you wake up, but before you physically get up.

Princess is right, most accurate is before getting up "resting".

Hey az!!! Good to see that the hubby is around to check your pulse!
I hope you are doing well!

Yep, take it upon waking, but before moving around.

Thanks all. I'm guessing it should be somewhere between those two then. After almost 4 years of doing this stuff there is still a lot of confusion for me. And yes he's baaaaaack! Came home in November and hasn't gone back....yet. He isnt finding it as easy to get a job as he thought so that option is still out there. We went on a 15 day cruise to Hawaii over the holidays and renewed our wedding vows. It was great. I highly recommend 'cruising' to everyone. We cant wait to go on another.
