I saw on a documentary last night that once you reach 30 if a muscle is not exercised for 48 hours it starts to degenerate, just wondering how credible this is or if anyone has heard this before. Even if it is i still got 12 years ahhh time to sit back and relax

Oh boy, that means for about 12 out of the past 13 years I have been degenerating, although my facial muscles have had plenty of exercise!

If muscle degeneration begins at 30, I should be an invalid.
Sam I can't answer your question except to say that I have successfully built muscle after 50. It is more difficult but definitly doable. I also can tell you that every personal lifting record I have came after 50.
Hopefully BB1 will weigh in on this since he is so very senior.

I dont think it was saying that you couldnt build muscle, just that once you hit 30 it begins to degenerate if not used within 48 hours id imagine it would be a slow reversabilty though

i think it's that sedentary people over the age of 30, start to lose 1% of muscle mass a year...or it could be after 40...i have ran into a similar statistic before...however 48 hours is complete nonesense since it takes your body longer to rebuild muscles after you exercise....I recover at times for nearly a week...just keep a healthy dose of skepticism when you run into a load of c*** like this...
