Hey, when i do sit ups(crunches) i get a sore back after doing abour 40-60, and my abs feel tired, does that mean that they are building muscle? and my back hurts because im doing them wrong maybe? have to do them with a straight back not bent forward or so.. (dont know how to explain, hopefully u understand what im saying)

You are not gaining anything by doing 30-40 unless you are doing a military test!
Reduce them to 2 sets of 12 and do them slowly. 2 sec up and 4 down.
If the problem persists see a dr. Don't screw around with your lumbar.

are they sit ups or crunches? big differance.....crunch is only riasing upper back off ground 4 5 ins......situps your whole back caomes off the ground, and elbows to knees.
Also are you pulling from behind your head?Arms behind your head when you do them?
Situps stres also the hipflexors I think.....which deverts work away from abbs.......crunches are better.....for your back and abbs imo.
