I know a lot of the people here compete, so they tan. I wanna know if anyone knows a good safe alternative to UV tanning. For example, I know I tried tanning creams a while back, but they worked terribly. I wound up being 1/3 orange, 1/3 pale, and 1/3 a mix between both. It's very hard to apply properly. Plus, some didn't even work at all. I've heard they've come out with better ones, but I don't now.

Also, there's the UV free tanning booths that are becoming popular, but I don't know how well they work and have heard they're expensive.

Anyone experienced with this stuff?

spas and some gyms have tanning booths, they range from 20+ to over 100....work well...and come out even...celebrities use this tanning method....they last for about a week

creams are useless, come out uneven and orange....

Froshman, UV free tanning is a healthy and beautiful alternative to regular tanning.

I'm not a big fan of the self tanning lotions as they are almost impossible to get on evenly without help, but I do like the spray tans. I have had experience with both the booth and the individual application.

The actual product itself works with the proteins in your skin, so the result is individual to your body's chemical make up.

The real secret of success lies in the correct preparation and application of the product. You want to make sure that your skin is freshly cleaned and exfoliated.

Many salons that carry the booths require you to watch a video prior to your treatment to help you understand what you must do during the process and what will happen if you do not.

I personally like the individual application best, if you go that route, make sure you are seeing a qualified and experienced individual.

Whats the difference between individual and booth? You mean paying someone to spray you down as an alternative to going into the booth?

Yes, there are automatic booths that mist you down and then there are places that you have a tech spray you down with a machine that is something similar to an air brush.
