I was on a couple of days ago and was advised to rest more.
up untill 3 days ago I was working out every day on my arms and shoulders. I asked for advise because I was not getting any gains infact I reckon that I have lost some size. Now after three days of rest I am aching in the places that I was hitting ie triceps, biceps, delts, traps ect but the aching has seemed to get more over the last 24 hrs its not pain its what I call nice acheing. do you think that my body has realised I am taking it easier than normal and has now began proper recovery and if so does this mean that if I eat ok and keep this aproach that I might begin to see some gains at long last.

you might be experiencing delayed muscle onset soreness(DOMS)....it's soreness that sets in between 24-72 hours....I have it quite often and it really gets you....to recover give yourself 2-3 days of rest....take multivitamin with C 500mg, E 400IU, you can also take glutamine 5 g and creatine 5g to help you recover...get plenty of sleep...so that means at LEAST 8 hours

what are your goals and what kind of a program are you looking for?

PS: you should not be in the gym more than 4-5 times a week or more than 2-3 days in a row....it leads very often to overtraining ...gl

err multivitamin with 100% DV of nutrients, and then separately C, E..

bb2fat think of it like this:

when you lift youre in essence destroying muscle fibers, and as they repair (during your days off) they grow back bigger and this makes you stronger. If you destroy your muscles on monday, then on tuesday go and lift the exact same muscles before they are done repairing, you won't make gains.. infact you could lose. lifting arms and shoulders three days in a row isn't a good idea, i'd reccomend highly against it.

you BUILD muscle on rest days......not on workout days..........i'd suggest a full week off to fix any damage or overtraining you have done to your body. Do some light cardio in this week, keep calories average( for you) then come back and workout, and be more smart about it. do 2 days on, one day off , two days on two days off. Or your preferance, but you should only weightlift 4 days out of a week at most!

bigandrew:
how many arm days should I do in a week, ie how many bicep days and how many tricep days. I know I sound dumb but I need to get it right.
