My first question is: I'm a college student but Ive decided to start weening myself off my drinking habit (I only drink once a week, usually on a friday or saturday, but I'm going on a health kick that included minimizing the toxins I ingest). The problem is I usually look forward to the weekend drinking so I was wondering if there was anything healthy that I could replace it with so that I could look forward to that instead.

My second question is: what is a good regiment for cleaning out toxins from the body. I want to get my body as healthy as possible. (I already eat healthy, and I just bought a juicer that Ive been using, is there anything else, maybe those herbal cleansers or something?)

start taking a multivitamin....

drink tea a couple times a day....green or black...i suggest buying the leaves and brewing it urself in a pot...

also drinking in moderation is fine...1 glass of wine or beer a day is not killer, but u will need to work out (off) the calories from it....and also alcohol impairs muscle rebuilding....so just be aware of it.....

for reward system...think fo things you really like to do....or of things you like to eat....

then once a week, eat a small portion of that....it would be better to reward yourself with healthy things although a small cup(1 serving) of ice cream for example is ok as well...

Thanks, Menace.

About the tea: Is buying the tea bags at a supermarket ok, i.e. Celestial Seasons, or do I need a health store brand? And also, isn't tea loaded with caffiene, thus harming my body anyway?

Celestial Seasonings has a green tea which will be more beneficial than black tea.
You can also help detoxify by adding in more cardio which will give your blood more oxygen to carry out the necessary fundyions of your system.

Quoting from Leedogg:

a "fundyion" is a typo for functions. Sorry for the error.

i Don't know....i buy leaves and brew really dark tea....i can't drink the tea from tea bags anymore cuz of it..tastes like water in comparison...i often drink it 2-4 times a days....the caffeine hasn't been an issue for me....perhaps it's even helped me lose weight....

as far as I read....green and black teas have about the same amount of polyphenols...green tea i think has less caffeine...but i LOVE super black tea...sometimes brew a whole canteen and drink it throughout the day....

Try a mixture of black leetchee and jasmin. It's a great antioxident. I buy my teas in china town. Lucky to have one here.

Red tea is supposed to be very good for you too. I like the way it tastes better than green tea.

I heard the same for white tea, that it's supposed to be great for you. So, we have black, green, white and red teas. I know where to get black and green tea, but they are store brand, such as Celestial Seasons or Lipton, so they are probably less potent. I do have a China Town where i live as well (NY- the ultimate in China Town experience, where you can get fireworks and an eggroll from the same place) but it's a pain in the ass to get there just to go tea shopping. Are there any good store brands? Also, I heard that Celestial Seasons has a white tea coming out, so perhaps they will release red tea as well. They also have Jasmin. Damn Celestial Seasons, they are so convenient, why must they suck??!!!??!

So if you are near the big city, then go to a natural food store and get the green tea, or even the white tea (which is more$$). I would make that the excuse to go to China Town and have some good Lobster cantonese, or some rice noodles with beef in black bean sauce then get the tea!

I buy mine at russian stores, they come in metal containers with leaves which u brew in little pots....

No offense but lipton tea tastes like crap in comparison to these tea....both taste, smell, and the way it wakes me up...no comparison....

Gotta love China Town....I live pretty close....we got two....one official China Town and one that's like a smaller one with mostly asian population and asian shops and restaraunts....great/cheap food :)....got me hungry with that cantonese lobster....

One of my friends is a former employee of a tea company,he's told me on many occasions, the tea in the bags is mostly all the dust from the leaves and stems from the containers they are shipped in. Always go with a real brew. The authentic chinese teas always come in a metal tin (no bags).

I know if you eat tea you can die from poison (I forget what the technical name for it is). If it's not in a bag, how do you brew it without getting tea leaves in the brew?
2004/12/10, 04:16 AM
you buy a little tea pot, like you see in chinese restraunts....which they place on a table...they can be clear plastic, metal, they vary....

I am not surprised carivan.....sure tastes like it...I stick to water when I run out of real stuff....my mom brewed it for me a while ago when I ran out...don't wanna say what that lipton tea bag stuff tasted like...sure had the color tho...

Normal kinds of tea leaves are not poisonous(should u eat them like a cow/horse? probaly not..lol)...however, people do use certain kinds of 'plants' generally not used for tea, for medicinal purposes like in chinese herbal medicine...but that's wholly different....
2004/12/10, 04:18 AM
you brew leaves in that pot, by putting them in and pouring boiling water over them....then let stand for 5-10 minutes....and then pour in a cup and add water to make it 'right' intensity for you...I drink it straight up...dark....no added water, no sugar, no lemon...however that might be strong for most people so adjust it by pouring water....gl

Cool. I'll check for it. I'll see if I can get all the colors of the tea rainbow.
