Hi, Bonnie!
Do you use some kind of calorie tracker/calculator? I use Fitness Calculator software and usually I manage to stay within the prescribed amounts. If you keep track of everything you eat during the day, then you may plan better what to eat next based on your needs,so that you don`t exceed your nutritional plan.
I have the same problem with protein.I would suggest that you keep constantly protein foods of various kinds in your house,to ensure your protein supply. For example,I buy cans with tuna and got used of making light sandwiches with tuna every day.In 95gr tuna there are 28gr. protein! I eat eggs, yoghurt (you may prefer to buy low fat yoghurt in order to keep your fats low),low fat cheese (for example,Exquisa Fitline),extra lean ham, chicken breast (light meat),lentils, chick peas and etc....If you totally run out of ideas, you can get a protein bar.
I would recommend highly to download some kind of nutritional tracker. There is one on this site, too,or you can try fitday.com,or www.xm3software.com.
