Hi, I'm 5'3" and 131 pounds right now. I am aiming for a lean 115. My biggest issue is losing my belly fat, but after reading some posts, I am getting afraid that I will have to weigh 100 pounds in order to lose this belly fat! Me nor my husband want me to be that small, but I want to get rid of this belly fat! I know it will be the last place I lose, but I just hope that is before I hit 100 pounds (which I thought was underweight anyway). I know the belly can be hard to lose, but do i have to basically lose most of my body fat before I get there? If so, I may never get there.... sigh :(

People always sayi need to lose this much fat , or weight, truth is losing 5lbs is alot, fat wise. As you know muscle is more dense than fat. This can be compared to a 1lb of feathers to lb of iron. You won't have much iron, but you'd have alot of feathers to equal out.

Think of 5lbs of fat as about the size of a jumbo roll of tolet paper. Think if you lost that much off your tummy, that prolly be all you'd need to lose really. Bad thing is you can't spot reduce.

Just watch your diet, and excercise, it won't be a quick thing, but it will happen eventually

Good analogies Big A. It's not goning to be quick at all seeing as you can't spot reduce, but it will happen it just takes time and effort there are no quick fixes in weight loss. You will get there don't worry about that, just keep training as you are and in a fews months from now you will have made some excellent progress and be even closer to your goal. Good Luck:big_smile:

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I am willing, and am doing what I need to lose this fat. argh! Do you know roughly what the body fat % has to be to see stomach muscle on a woman? (not six-pack, but just to see the toned muscles under the fat?)

Lean for a woman- would be like 19-23% body fat, in order to be lean for veiwing tummy muscles... also I heard a toilet roll of paper is equal to ONE pound of fat not 5...
