Hi,I`m 33 y/o female, mother of 2 kids.I posted this on the new members forum but thought it was too elaborated for the purpose of sole introduction,so I decided to re-post it here.

I already made my fitness profile and will start training soon according to my program.I`m not new to fitness, however.I`m going regulary for one year.My main problem with fitness training is that I had to stop several times for relatively long periods (1-2 months),due to job trips and problems with the babysitter for my kids. Also,I couldn`t make steadily 3 or 4 times in a week to the gym which I suppose have affected my training results. However, beginning with the end of August, things seem to go on a better track- I`m going regulary 3-4 times in a week and had no gaps until now.
During my workouts I do cardio-about 20min.,then a circuit training with weight lifting.I like weight lifting and do many exercises which are commonly viewed as "male" exercises.

My general goal is to lose weight and get more defined body.I`m 5.8 ft tall and weigh 150lbs.I have a tendency to accumulate fat on my hips and belly. On the contrary,my arms and legs are slim.I would like to weigh 132 lbs but have subdivided this goal to 2 smaller ones:first I`d like to reach 143lbs and maintain it for a while, then drop another 6 pounds and finally, get to 132.
I am on a reduced calorie diet. I try to avoid candies, chocolate and cakes, although I like them very much.I have limited the amount of bread per day and I buy rye of whole-wheat bread instead of white. However, there are two foods I don`t know how to do without them- rafinated rice and white-wheat spaghetti.Usually,I have them twice in a week. How do you think, does it affect my progress? Right now I have hit my plateu and have not dropped anything for two weeks.

Hey Girl, You can lose inches all over and better define your body, by doing more cardio aleast 45mins. to 1.5hrs. Also if your weight lifting stick to different days for different muscle. You can get better results if you do more
reps and less weight. Example: 4 sets x 15 reps x weight.
Also if you try a High Protein Diet you get tons of energy,
perfect nutrients your body needs to cut-up,and lose accumulated fat. Because your body starts to feed on its stored fat. Trrrrry to stay away form all carbs. and starches. :) Keep up all the great work  Ana

Hi,Ana!
I actually started today the Freetrainers.com personal exercise program and hope to boost a bit my metabolism!
I also try to have more protein in my meals.
BTW,I measured myself yesterday, and I have lost some centimeters from my waist and my neck which is good!

Hi milenaz,
The white rice can be replaced by brown or wild rice. There are plenty of pastas out there that are different and delicious. They have a good whole wheat spaghetti. There are other vegetable pastas as well.

I am not sure if anaibarra is suggesting the atkins diet or not, but I agree that increasing your protein would be a good idea. Make all your carbs complex and stay away from anything white like potatoes, white bread and sugar.
best of luck.

Welcome to FT!

The increased protein is a good idea, but I would stick to the 20 minutes or so of cardio, unless you are training for endurance. If you do 45-90 minutes cardio you risk tapping into your hard earned muscle as a fuel source for your workout.

Lots of us here do "male" exercises :)

How often are you eating? make sure you're not going more than 3 or 4 hours between meals to keep your metabolism up.

Hi,and thanks for your replies!

In fact, recently I`m making some changes in my nutrition and trying to do healthier choices. Here are some of them:

1.To replace white bread with whole-wheat or rye type.
2. To cut off fats which means frying without oil, using butter very rarely and replacing it with ricotta,or low fat cheese cream.I try to keep my fats up to 30gr per day (with an average calorie intake of 1200-1500 Kcal per day).
3.To increase protein in my meals.
4.To eat 6 meals of which 2 major and 4 snacks.
5.To pick up something good for my snacks, such as fruit, small fish/lean ham sandwich, low fat yoghurt.
6.To avoid baked sweet things.

In fact,I realised that sometimes it was easier for me to stay hungry instead of making good choices of healthy snacks. Now I`m looking not to make too long gaps between meals.I hope this is going to work.

Also, added to my gym exercise,I started doing some exercise at home, too, specially for the abs and buts. This is because at the gym I have access mainly to the exercise machine, and there is not much place to do floor exercises.

Honestly speaking,I don`t think I can do more than 20 minutes of cardio:).I usually use the treadmill,as I found a very good program to train running.Usually I cannot run for long, and have found it difficult to keep my breath steady but this kind of running schedule trains you to run longer and longer with the time.
I ride also from time to time the stationery bycicle and stepper,as well as ski machine.
