hello, i am a 17 year old senior in high school, For a while now I have been lifting weights right after school, lately ive been adding cardio to my workout. The question that I have is I wanted to know if it was ok to do a morning run for about 20-25 minutes around 6:00 am and then lift weights after school around 3:00 pm ? and will it affect my muscle gains?
I that's enough time between two although it's always better to do weights before cardio, maybe someone else can shed more light on that. One thing I know If your looking for muscle gains, your not going to see much if your doing cardio and weights in the same day if your not eating quite a bit of calories of good clean foods with at minimal 160g. of protein as your weight is 160 and a good formula is 1g. of protein per pound of body wieght. In order to grow you need more calories that you burn in one day. When you want to gain it's a good rule to do minimal or no cardio and when you want to loose weight you incorporate both weight training and plenty of cardio. Do a search at the bottom of the page on gaining muscle or bulking up. Good luck and welcome to free trainers.
