When most people say they want a flat stomach they mean a flat abdomen. If this is what you mean then yes abs exercises will help strengthen that area, but to make it flat/ reveal a six pack, you need to reduce bodyfat by dieting.
If you mean will abs exercises help the organ used for digestion (the true meaning of stomach) then I'm not so sure.
