With such a topic so broad we truly try to cover the basics from all angles in this group. Nothing too big or too small. Nutrition is as significant if not more as exercise is to reaching your goals so learn all you can.
I'm a college student. I workout out 3-4 times a week, and I was wondering exactly how alcohol consumption affects recovery of the muscles. I don't drink beer; I prefer vodka... I hear vodka is the "healthiest" of the liquors. I know if I'm really serious about getting fit I should cut out alcohol completely because there isn't any nutritional value, but is it so detrimental to muscle gain that I can't enjoy even a few shots over the weekend?
I would say that as long as your diet & exercise are VERY good and healthy during the week, that a FEW shots , would be ok, but of course the more serious you are about getting to your goals the more serious your diet will be... it also depends on your goals too... if your trying to lose weight, a few shots could be keeping you from getting there... they are empty calories, and I'm sure they don't help in keeping your "pump" or hardness from the workouts over the week...
