My back is feeling much better though it is tender and a bit sore after periods of inactivity. I intend to get back to the gym on Monday, any suggestions for exercises I should avoid for a while, or should I just do my routine and back off when I feel any strain?

Glad to hear your feeling better. If it was me I'd take it easy on back exercises. Try a lighter weight and see how you are the next day. Better to ease back into it than try to go full pelt.

I hate back injuries, they take so long to heal and so easily injured. Be careful!
Good Luck!

go easy with high impact stuff like running.
Pay extra close attention to form with abs and back exercises
