It's been a little over a month since i started working out after about 2 months off and i have reached the size i was before. I'm about 5"10 188lbs. I been doing higher reps in the 10-12 range with 3 sets of each exercise. my goal is to be 210-215lbs. I know whats needed to put on size take in more calories than i consume of good clean food with tons of protein a year ago i weighed like 170lbs. But right now atleast for a few months i don't feel like doing what it takes to put on lots of muscle. But i would still like to keep my muscles growing. This week i plan going heavy, my question is will i still be putting muscle on if i go heavy but not taking in the excess calories. I want to keep my body guessing , does anyone have any suggestions, would adding a 4 set with high reps do the trick. I also feel when i go light weight i feel it more in the muscle. I think my body likes higher reps with lower weight better than going heavy but i don't know how to keep my body from adapting to the light weight. I'm just looking for suggestions. Thanks

Justine, lift heavy. 15 lbs of muscle in a year is not too shabby. Stay the course. Lift heavy eat right and get your rest. Read asimmers's stickied post about how much muscle you can gain in a year. You aren't far off the mark.

thanks charlie, i have read asimmer's post, I'm hoping that within the next 2 years i will have reached my goal, which i think is a pretty reasonable time period. I"m guessing in order to put 20-25 lbs. on in one year i would almost have to have a flawless diet with tons of good clean calories so i'm atleast hoping to be 200lbs. in 8-12 months, Thanks again and take care
