Mikey, you will achieve any goal you ever set. Parents everywhere are wishing they had one like you.

In the meantime look at the FT home workout. You can do it and augment with the equipment you have.:cool:

Well, diet of coarse and you didn't say if you have a benchor how much weight you have. Have you used the FT plans ? If so do you have enough weight? I work out at home and make good gains.

Do you have a bench of some sort? Also, anything that you can hang from for chinups?

i know your wanting to save money but you could look around the ads in the papers etc for a second-hand bench. as long as the fixtures and fittings are alright you might pick one up cheap. also you can do loads of stuff at home. for instance, press ups with your feet/hands at different levels. all the best

On the news this morning they had a thing about a website where everything is FREE. It is much like Ebay- but you don't have to pay for anything. I signed up myself this morning. You can post a WANTED: ad as well- I know in my city (they have a group for each city- over 1100 locations) I saw anything from guinea pigs to a laptop to Atkins diet stuff on there- and all for free!! I'd recommend anyone who is either pressed for money, or has some extra things lying around, go check this site out. If there is something you like, you arrange with the "seller" how you want to pick it up or get it- from the sound of it most people actually just go pick it up. They also said if you are uncomfortable with that sometimes people meet in very public places- when you sign up you dont' have to give your name or anything. That is why they have different location groups. No shipping charges keeps it free. Anyways I hope you are able to find something on there. the site is: www.freecycle.org
I gotta say- I totally admire what you are doing for your mother! Best of luck to you and your family.

mikey, I workout at home with dumbells and have made big strength gains, but I really would advise getting a bench if you can, it makes a big difference.
Resistance bands are also relatively inexpensive and would add another dimension to your workouts, if you wanted, but they're not necessary, there are loads of exercises you can do without any equipment which are in the exercise program on FT
You may even find you make better gains using free weights rather than fixed machines as more of the exercises you do will be compound.
The thing I used to miss about working out at home was the social contact, but that's no longer a problem since finding FT.

There are lots of other benefits of working out at home, such as being able to workout while the tea is in the oven, not having to worry if you accidently put your shorts on inside out(as I did on a recent trip to my local gym to use the smith machine), being able to sing while you workout, or burst into some impromptu air guitar if the mood takes you to name but a few :)
Hope your mom gets better soon
