Welcome to FT! Please fill in your profile, it makes it easier for us to help you when we have more information.

The best fat burner is muscle. The best way to build muscle is eating clean and lifting weights. Dieting in the traditional sense will more than likely keep you from losing weight. Read all you can here, and then let us help you apply that knowledge to acheive your fitness goals.

Again, welcome to FT!

If you start eating right (some call it diet) and incorporate your cardio you will see a fat loss, as your metabolism will speed up. Even though, you don't want to gain or lift weights, it is an important part of the process, like Anni said. It will even help your metabolism go even faster. Also allowing you to burn calories much longer without even trying, even while you sleep! Try it for 4 weeks and let us know what happens!

Good luck

The problem with a diet alone is that you will lose muscle mass no matter how you eat. Higher protein will save some, but it is inevitable you will lose some also. This in turn will slow your metabolism even more in a defensive mode by the body, and when you start eating again at all, with a slower metabolic rate, you will store that much more fat as your fat to lean tissue ratio will be even worse. Do resistance training. You do not have to train to gain muscle, train to keep the muscle you have.

wafc, If you are unable to get access to a gym, then I would suggest investing in at least some dumbbells. That's really all you need for resistance training.

If youdon't have weights, or can't get to buy some dumbells,
try using empty pop bottles, fill them with water to vary the weight. You can use the edge of stairs for leg exercises, and an interior wall for squats. Lie on the floor and do a couple of crunches, and push ups, thier you have a little workout going for you!

I lost a bunch of weight last year and its been really fun. However I noticed that although my body shrunch down it still had the same shape. That didn't please me so I started doing some aerobic tapes and exercises. I noticed results right away. Now I have started running and doing weights and I love it. You can't spot lose so some of the weight will be lost where you want but some will come off other parts. That is where exercise comes in. If your legs or thighs aren't looking like you want help them out and do some target exercises. It doesn't have to be all consuming evert little bit will help.

Good point regulator...with diet alone if you are a pear now, you will simply become a smaller pear. With weights you can actually sculpt your body, like a piece of clay.
