I still do it, too, hma0575, as most people don't seem to get making a total change vs. being on a "diet". I get asked all the time, "how's your diet going?" or "what diet are you on?" and I have to tell them it's NOT a diet and try to explain what I am doing and they look at me with this odd expression and then say, "is that the Atkins diet?"...oh well, as long as I'm sticking with it is all that matters!

Don't 'cha just hate that! I just posted elsewhere about how when I first start my workout plans I end up ill - I think my body was screaming and pleading with me to not punish it anymore and go grab some Little Debbie's instead! Take a rest and don't forget to get back up and get workin'! I'm countin' on it! *wink*!-------------- Veda MISERY IS OPTIONAL ***When you are up to your ears in trouble, try using the part that is not submerged. ***The difference between a dream and a goal is a plan. Gracelet, don't worry about getting sick, it happens to me every time I start to try to get fit. The only way that I have found for it not to happen is to start exercising for one week without changing your diet. During the second week, keep exercising and diet every other day (sounds crazy I know). Begining of the third week, diet everyday and keep exercising. This method eases your body into the change and you have lees of a chance of getting sick. If you change too much all at one time your body can not handle it and you get sick. Try this when you get better. I hope that it works for you too!!

Just remember, all you have to do is get through the first week. This is when you will hurt the most and you body will fight you the most. After that your body will adjust to the increased activity and eventually your body will actually look forward to the exertion and the stress relief. Keep up the good fight.-------------- Once a romantic, now a cynic. Semper Gumbi - Always Flexible |

If you aren't taking a multi-vitamin, you might want to start.

I think what you have to remember is your diet is not dieting, you are just eating better, which shouldn't get you sick, though may make things tougher as the carb cravings are nasty for the first two weeks or so if you are a carbaholic! Changing your diet should mean easing into good carbs, which will help the carb cravings, and eating good fats, just changing from hydro. oils to olive oil, etc. and bumping up the protein are excellent ways to give yourself the boost your body needs when starting an exercise program. Your body will require more of those good foods and will resent you for not giving them to it by making you tired, run down feeling, and make it difficult to make it through a work out. Do not diet, just replace those bad things with the good - for example you can't go eat a candy bar before working out for your carbs, eat some oatmeal and some whole wheat toast with natural peanut butter. After your workout feed yourself a protein drink. You have to learn to combine your efforts as you cannot possibly sustain, especially when beginning a workout, on bad foods, you will find your body more accepting of that workout if you start integrating those energy needs immediately. You may not wish to lower your daily calorie needs immediately, but implementing the necessary good foods into your diet immediately will help you with the energy you require to get through a workout better and improve daily upon your health.
