Here's the back story. A good friend of mine was killed in a car accident a month before his graduation from highschool. The school set up a scholarship for him, and me and another of his really close friends have decided we'd like to do something to help out.

We plan to walk from Lethbridge Alberta to Fernie BC, which according to MapQuest is 204Km. We plan to do it in 5 days, and raise approximately a thousand dollars for the scholarship. The date we've got set is the 11th of august, so as to arrive on the 16th, which is Bretts birthday.

We've both done some good hiking, but I'd like to know if you can recommend anything to do in workup for this type of hike. Between 40 and 50km a day for 4 or 5 days depending on how it goes. We'll have camelbacks, lots of water, deoderant on the feet, lots of foot powder, good socks, nylons under the socks, good shoes (it'll all be highway walking), and good packs packed as lightly as possible. We're going to be working on cardio daily (punching bag mostly) and doing walks 3 times a week, starting at 15km and getting longer each time. Any other recommendations?

thanks alot

I would focus the majority of your workouts on walking or running with one longer/endurance workout a week. Make sure you also have one day off or very light pace to avoid overtraining.
Oh and eat!
