On certain weight lifting programs they have reps for an excersise like 4 x 10 or 4 x 8. Sets with multiple of the same amount of reps. When doing these should you pyramid or just go until failure at whatever weight that happens to be on that set?

I do pyramid and muscle failure. I set the weight of my last set knowing thatit will be a struggle for me.

To add to what I said. My goal is to bring each set so that I cannot do one more "good" rep than my goal of say 8 in a 4 x 8 set.

sweeny, it all depends on what is your motive. if you are trying to built a muscle mass and bulkiness, then the 4X8 will be very good enough. if let say you want to achieve a lean muscle mass and tone it down, then you will have to do more than that. one thing you must remember is that the weight you use must be exactly the amount that reaches its optimum level at the final rep.
