I have changed my eating patterns slowly, and though I still have this unnerving need to pig out, I have been doing pretty good keeping it under wraps, but I gotta say it is not easy and I think my brain, too, is so conditioned to "EAT MORE EAT MORE" that I am having to rethink and not react. I will drink lots of water with my meals, I will eat higher protein, etc. filling meals, but this little voice (shhhhh...it's the little voice again) whispers fiercly, "EAT MORE EAT MORE". I have been satisfying that voice by grabbing some dill pickles, or celery, something cruncy and takes a lot of chewing and that has helped, but I pray that sometime soon I will be content with what is in front of me -- does that ever happen? Or am I doomed to always want more and feel unsatisfied? I know I am most likely still going through a form of carb withdrawls (the bad sugar carbs) and wondering how long this may last? I think that this is very common and why most people give up - but I'm NOT giving up, so forget that, I just want to know if it is temporary or what else I can do to subside that inner fat person from giving me so much crap!

The carb withdrawals can go on for a couple of weeks. And when that stinky little voice pops into your head, just remember to tell yourself that it is only the little voice that wants more, your body is doing just fine with what you gave it!!! Keep it up, and soon that little voice will shrivel up and die!!! Agh ha ha ha ha ha!!! (We need an evil smiley face for this one)

You may think I am crazy, but I smell the food that I am craving. Seriously, I sniffed some twinkies the other night and I was all good.

Would it be classified as overly competitive if I refused to let a 4 year old beat me at chutes and ladders?

:laugh::laugh::laugh:
Hecdarec, you weren't sleeping when you smelled those twinkies, were you? I was thinking..you didn't bring your wife cake, and then there was the list on Saturday, did you complete it to her satisfaction? Maybe your wife was waving them under your nose as payback?! My husband is afraid to go to sleep if he upsets me, I paint his fingernails bright red...he is not a happy camper, but I feel much better!:laugh::laugh:

You guys are a hoot! Hecdarec and his phantom smells, CristalBelle's great effects (I truly envisioned the evil voice dying)...I guess I have finally found somewhere I will fit in, little voice and me!

the cravings go away. Eventually. But it's sooooo hard. I went through all of that when I tried the South Beach diet several months back. It gets easier. Just find the foods that satisfy the cravings. I turn to cocoa with splenda and skim milk when I need something sweet in the evening. It does the trick, but secretly I wish it was a big slab of cheesecake. CHHHEEESSSSEEECAAAAKKKEEEEEEEEE!

It might surprise you, but one thing I use to curb my cravings is iceburg lettuce. Just eat a lettuce salad with a little dressing on it. When your body craves something sweet, it wants carbs. That doesn't mean you have to deny it any carbs. 1 small bowl of plain iceburg lettuce has 80 grams of carbs (the good kind). These help fill you up from the slowly burning fiber and also release those "I'm satisfied" chemicals in your brain.:)

I think you'd have to eat an entire garden row of lettuce to get 80 grams of carbs...seeing as how it's mostly water.

I checked and a cup of iceburg lettuce has approximately 1.15g of carbs...a whole head is 15.78g :)

I agree, jniday, I like to throw some lettuce in a bowl and sprinkle with some lemon juice.

You have to go to this site for the new Iceberg Lettuce and Coffee Diet, reminded me of other "real" diets out there!

Veda,
Try only eating while on your tampoline. Just don't try soup.

I will get to it as soon as I am done lifting.
