Hey, just wondering...I drink only about every couple months, usually red wine or a Zima, I just don't know what I can have that won't shoot my whole day of being good down the drain, but I enjoy a drink now and then and I know that alcohol is not a good thing all the way around for many health reasons, but I don't plan on giving it up as little as I do it. I know there is light beers and such, but I cannot drink them as I break out iching from whatever is in them just as I cannot tolerate aspertane and nutrasweet, etc.

Hun, I know there are some that may argue with me on this, but if you drink that infrequently, I say drink whatever you want. If you want wine, or a Mikes, have it. Alcohol on special occasions, or that few and far between drink is ok. Just don't make it a habit, as drinking often will heavily impeed your progress.

Thanks, others will surely say if I drink so infrequently, to just not drink! No fear, I won't make it a habit, I had a friend die of liver disease at the age of 32, it was very sad and I could never understand the obsession with alcohol as it has always been just a social drink now and then with me. The damage it can do to your body is unbelievable and I shouldn't really even drink now and then. I always drink lots of water, before, during and after.
I just thought I'd ask as I don't think that every person cuts themselves off of every little pleasure totally, but I want the least amount of calories in my little pleasures when I decide to partake in them.

I would venture a guess, that hard alcohol or wine would be better than drinking a mikes or a beer. I know hard alcohol has less carbs, so maybe some vodka in cranberry juice or something along those lines. ?? :surprised:

Just have the drink and enjoy it. Like Cistabelle says, not to often. Like a Heinekin once a week! But thats just me.
Unless your competeing in a body building/figure competition don't worry about it.

Actually Veda, wine is good for you in moderation. Here's some info from a Danish study:
"Alcohol can decrease the tendency of blood to clot and cause heart attacks, and raise good cholesterol levels.
The benefits of drinking a glass of red wine have been touted over the past decade after the discovery of the "French paradox" -- that the French had low rates of heart disease despite high-cholesterol diets. Studies have shown the key may be the glass or two of red table wine at dinner."

Try this if you are going to be having more than one or 2 drinks at a time when you do indulge <feel free to sub out the hard aclohol to your taste> My hubby and I drink Rum and Diet Coke, it's very low cal and no carbs. . . since I know you've posted you have an issue with caffine at times maybe try to mix with Caffine Free Diet Coke, or Diet Sprite if you like. Just an alternative to try that is more "Diet Friendly"

Great posts, all, thank you! I like the red wine, unless I let my husband pick it, he doesn't drink it so he has brought me stuff that tasted like vinegar! It's funny, Kyrah, I just saw a commercial on t.v. for Bacardi and diet coke and I told my husband when I felt like a drink sometime I may have to try that, the caffiene free sounds good, too. Hey, Princesslodgey, try touching your fingers to your nose now and singing the National Anthem, hheheehe!
