I have often wondered how do u rate one persons strength. We often say that "he has good power" , but based on what do we all say this.Do we say this on the amount of weight he lifts. But still their is a confusion.Their r many people who lift much lesser weight than us but their rawn power is much more than us.A very good example are the labourers. They will find it hard 2 lift 100lbs. of bench but they can lift 5-6 luggages on their hands and head. Then what do u guys think of this?

I guess the more you can lift on one rep the stronger you are..that's referred to as 1RM (rep max)

will some people have a greater number of fast twiching then slow twiching muscles...those with the slow twiching muscel tend to be able to have there muscles withstand a load for a longer period with out neessicarily being able to move alot of weight in a short period of time..such as a bench press........

Good question archan. I'll try to respond as intelligently as possible. I think some are born to get on a bench, and easily do ten reps of 315, while others can lift a hundred fifty pounds of grocery bags with ease. I believe it is all in your psyche. If you lay down on that bench and imagine that weight is too much for you and that it will crush you, you have beaten yourself without gripping the bar. But then some people can lift other excercises much better because certain parts of their bodies have grown stronger depending on lifestyles. I look like a wuss. I am six feet tall and weigh about 160, but I am built like Bruce Lee. My tone is stong but my limbs are long so it will take years to pack on the mass I want. I see guys bigger than me in the gym lift less than me on certain excercises. Maybe it is one of life's mysteries. Well I hope I shed some insight. The Hog.

P.S. Good question, solid thought.
