My deltoids aren't as strong as I thought. I just tried some new exercises listed on the site, figuring I would start a thorough routine with my shoulders, as all I have is a machine in the weight room at my apt complex. You can't do military presses on it, and I have no dumbells.
I saw the exercises listed here and was excited to find all the ones that you can use cables with to work the deltoids.
Anyway, I got over there and was disappointed to find that I could only do like 3 sets of 3 or 4 reps each for the standing cable raises, cross cable pulls, and bent over cable pulls. And I only had one plate attached on all of them!!!.
I know I shouldn't be discouraged, but I'm a big guy with naturally musculer shoulders.
I just wanted to verify my assumption that I just need to keep at it, using good form, and the added weight will come.
Or is there anything else I need to be doing?

Brandon, most deltoid work is "shaping " work . There is no need to go real heavy. If you can get hold of some dumbells and do lateral raises, front raises, and rear delt raises that will build you up. As long as your form is good you are probably ok but havung had rotator cuff surgery I'll say be careful. It was no fun and had a very long recovery.

shoulders is a very complex and easy joint to mess up....go lighter till you get used to it. Theres alot of excercises when i first tried them I was doing "sissy" weight, but I did it to get used to the motion and how it feels to do it right, before I started throwing big plate around.

Good point. No problem with doing a sissy weight, we have all been there. I still do sissy weights. I only do 30's for the lateral raises, and like 25's for the front raises. I do a lot of reps though, and still get a good burn.
