I hurt my knee about 6 months or so ago skateboarding. I was trying something that took alot of rotation, i didnt have my balance centered so when i landed i slipped out and start falling backwards. I had a decent amount of momentum with my speed, my body was probably at a 45 degree angle, in which when i fell i should have kicked my legs in front of me. Instead of put my legs under me thus putting ALLL the weight onto my left knee making my ankle touch the back of my thigh, it couldnt reach that far if i tried normally. Well i let it rest for 2 months till it stopped feeling as if it was dangling by a string. I started skating again, it got swollen all the time, filled with water. A few days patched it up, then id go back. Recently tho I used it a lil tooo much and now ive let it rest for a month or so and im getting sharp pains. Shapr pains right below my knee cap. usually happens when i try to use my knee as support. What could be wrong? I havnt seen a doctor because i did something like this to my right knee, but he said it was overuse.. so.. i figured my left knee would follow and heal like my right knee did.

Same happened to me playing soccer. I did damage to the ligaments but didn't tear any. Doc said it is something that will come and go. Sounds like you did a little more than strain it though.

sounds like your anterior cruciate ligament - need to see a doc or a physio to assess if it's a sprain or a tear.

I found a cool website called kneepaininfo.com for you. It has information regarding knee anatomy and knee injuries.

You should see your doctor but you might find the website helpful.

Good luck!
