I need to design a pretend 12 week exercise program for gym class for John Doe who has no risk factors and can go directly into a maximal testing and a moderate or vigorous exercise program. I need to include days, exercises, body part targeted, sets, reps, and caloric intake for 28 year old semi-pro baseball player that is seeking to increase stamina and strength w/o adding excess body fat. His desire is to achieve it by only gaining 3-5 lbs of lean muscle tissue, ht is 5'8" & wt is 160.
Can someone help me with this exam???? This is too hard for me to do since i am female. i think i could to do it if it were for a female instead of a male. Please help me??!! |

Are you saying that because you are female, you can't think.
or because you are female you run differently to a man or play baseball differently. That there are ladies exercises and then their are mens exercises. That there are no female baseball players. A women is no contest in the gym to a man? Everday in the gym all I see is different levels of fitness, same exercises, different weights/goals/bodies etc... Women who lift more than or less than some men. Men who like like Adonis, but only seem to dumbell curl 14k for 12 reps n' 3 sets, and sweat like they've had a heart attack! So are you studying for something that you really have an interest in? It's years since I've heard ''I can't do it because I'm a girl.'' |

Segui, I believe when you posted this question to a different board that you were told by asimmer that you needed to do your own project and that was a week ago. If you had spent as much time on your project as you have spent trying to avoid learning how to do it, it would be done by now.
At this point in the semester one would expect you to be challenged by the assignment, but still able to come up with a reasonable plan. That is assuming that you have bothered to show up for class and done your homework. Consult your textbook, it's that big, heavy thing they made you buy at the beginning of the semester. As far as your statement that being female has somehow made you less capable, let me just tell you what I tell my daughters because I think it will serve you well in the years to come: Stupid isn't cute. -------------- Anni ******* Have you hugged your EFAs today? |

everyone seemed to misunderstand what i meant by saying "it was hard since i am a female". I am trying to say that if this project was aimed for a female exerciser than i can create a 12 week program NO PROBLEM since i exercise myself but i dont know what are the needs of a male wanting a moderate or vigorous program. I dont know how many sets, reps or calorie intake they need to pump up, increase stamina and strength. I know what my body would need to pump up or slim down or tone up. So i just need some guidance here. I truly dont know how to even begin this project and i have been referring to my text book. i just need someone to help me start it and i think i can take it from there.

segui65, My wie and I do almost identical workouts. We eat almost the same foods. Only the amount of weight and quantity of food differ. I'm a 200 pounder and she's a 100 pounder. Gender doesn't really enter in to it. A female WNBA player eats and trains the same as a male NBA player. That help??-------------- A problem ceases to be such when you can laugh about it. read my question carefully.. i am not saying that at all. i am saying that because i am a female i can easily design this program for a female. since i am not a male, it now makes it hard since i dont know what men's physical needs are. am i still not coming out clear.

in my humble opinion, there is no such thing as a "male" workout or a "female" workout. it's all reps and sets when you get down to it. i've been asked by many a man to design workout programs for them that will get them into shape. the reason i can do this is because i understand the basic principles of nutrition and strength training. if you understand those, you can make a program for anyone, regardless of their gender.
i would suspect that you've learned most of these in your class, so think about what areas baseball players need to target (i.e. shoulders for throwing strength, forearms for bat speed, legs for hitting power, overall flexibility, etc.) and apply what you've learned. if it helps you, think of designing a program for a really strong softball player. this is not as hard of a project as you think it is. use the resources on this site and in your text and make a program up that will get this guy into shape for the season. -------------- success comes before work only in the dictionary. that's right. |

When I had exams there weren't even computers!!!
I'm glad you are not studying proctology, otherwise you would be on a medical site stating...I'm a female and can't ......!
