I have been having protein shakes for lunch/snack... But I read on here that someone said they drink their shake after a workout. I have whey protein, HDT Pro Blend 55. Which is best?

Most (atleast I think) whey proteins come in shakes, I use Met-Rx protein plus after a workout, quick carbs and a substantial amount of protein. The main idea is to promote anabolic growth of the muscle and not catabolic breakdown of the muscle, your body can convert muscle to energy easier than it can fat. bb1fit might be able to enlighten you better on this subject. Hope I helped some:).

Try drinking 1/2 your shake immediatly after your workout and sipping the rest for the next 45 min. This will give you the best results. I would also recommend using an MRV for snack, they will give you more nutrients that you need.
Good Luck!

Another good idea (if you haven't done so already) get a couple muscle and fitness magazines (I'm not trying to be a sales man but I like their articles and find them educating) and ignore the add's but read the actual article's, some of them can be very informative to a person not so intune with all the nutrition and biomechanical workings of the body, and plus give some drive to keep with your work out, and also follow this sight and look at some of the older posts, you may find what you need there too. Now I shall end my rant, lol and hope once again that I've helped atleast a little.
