I know the basics of "weight loss" and such (cardio, strength training, proper nutrition, rest, etc). However, my friend is seeking advice from me, and I want to give her ACCURATE info...
quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just bought a size 4 grad dress and I love it! It fits me perfectly ^_^. But... I'm 5'4 115lbs. I have HUGE leg muscle from running =\. I thought running was supposed to make your thighs slimmer, not make them butch looking -_-. But I have a toned stomache and I just want to loose a few inches from the hips and waist. How can I loose a few inches? I do pilates every day, and sit ups and step ups. Like, what should I be eating for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and for snacks? I want to maintain a healthy lifestyle and keep under a size 4.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Should I just tell her to eat every 2-3 hours, opt to do more cardio, H.I.I.T. training?
mind you, she wants to *burn fat* not gain muscle. She soounds on the right track for me...what should i tell her to eat?
Thanks you guys!

I am no pro, but from what I have learned from this site on diet/excercise:
1. you can't spot loose fat. your body will loose fat the way it wants to, not the way you want it to, just genetic.
2. to loose weight, you need two things Diet/exercise your weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise, primarily caused by you upping your output, and lowering your caloric intake.
3. your body will react to your workout the way it wants to, all you can do is change your workout, my theory, would be to run at a slower pace for a longer period of time.
High resistance + low repitition = muscle mass gain and Strength
low resistance + high repitition = smaller muscles and more endurance, pluss a faster "snap" or muscle reaction.
anyone have any better ideas? or correct me where I am wrong?

I'd say make sure she is stretching alot, especially after workouts, plus if you run, workout, do areobics etc. thats alot of legs....think about it, unfortunally most aerobic activities to get your heart rate up involve alot of legs. Tell her to try swiming laps, or maybe do upper body circits to get the heart rate up and burn calories. If you over load any muscle it will grow to compinsate for it. Lower the caloric intake, and raise the output. I have big legs too( 31in lol)But i'd rather have a nice solid 31in quad than a 31in flabby one but thats just me.... by the way tell you friend nothing wrong with girls with muscular legs:big_smile:
