Hi, I'm new to the board, I just joined a gym and started a work out. I was wondering what I should take as a suppelment, if at any at all. My Goal is to gain a bit more muscle but lose a few pounds around my waist, I used to be athletic but have been out of the swing lately because of my desk job and have put on a little fab around my abs, I was wondering what can I do to lose that and gain muscle at the same time, A friend gave me a bottle of GNC Mega Whey and suggested taking it after I work out... Sorry if this is the wrong forum, mods you can move it if you like... thats for any feedback...

We can't move posts, sorry.
Food is going to be the most important 'supplement' along with water. check out the post 'grocery list for a bodybuilder' in the nutrition section, it will steer you towards the more beneficial foods for a healthy lifestyle.
See how far you can get with a decent meal plan and consistent workout schedule before buying a lot of supplements.
Whey protein is a good post-workout shake, add some simple carbs and drink it within 1/2 an hour of finishing your workout. You can get a lot more precise and technical, bbfit1 has posted a how-to on making your post-workout shake the most beneficial blend of proteins and carbs. Look for it, or maybe someone else reading this will remember what posting it is under.
What you want to supplement with is really up to you and how much money you want to spend.
A few I recommend to most people (barring any health issues) are - a good multi-vitamin/mineral supplement, creatine, glutamine, and essential fatty acids (I like Udo's Choice which is an ideal blend of oils in a liquid form, many people take efa's in capsule form)..
Good luck!
