What would you do if this happened to you:
You only get about 3 hours of sleep before getting up at some ungodly hour to go in to work. You're done at 9am, but you have to head back in for a few more hours of work at 4pm. This only gives you 5-6 hours when you get home from the second half of work to sleep, so you can get up and work 18 straight hours the next day.
So, do you go home at 9am and go back to sleep for 4-5 hours (because you're dead tired from only getting 3 hours the night before) before heading back in to work later that afternoon, or do you sacrfice some of that time to workout, knowing that you probably won't be able to work out at all for at least the next 1-2 days because of your work schedule? This after coming off of working out for 3 days in a row, one of them cardio only.

I would sleep! Person's body needs sleep to recover. And you said you worked out 3 days straight before. It's okay to take a day off. Or try to keep moving at work or to/from work if you miss exercise. :)

Get some sleep or you'll be useless. I did this exact thing over the weekend and by monday I was worthless.

cafenervosa - will your schedule ever normalize, or is this how it will be for the rest of the time you work there? It seems awfully inhumane and I hope it pays enough to be worth it.
Get some sleep. Rest is more important, when You are well-rested, you may be able to find time to workout. Workout on days off, after recovering from not enough sleep.
A disrupted andd erratic sleep schedule wreaks havoc on your system, hormonally and mentally. You are constantly in a state of jet lag. Is there any way to remedy your schedule?
Drinking beer to relax actually disrupts the precious sleep you do get (referring to previous post, not attacking). So cutting that out is good for more than one rason.
Some type of yoga or tai chi to destres and boost your immune system would be beneficial. Maybe sleep for a few of the hours inbetween, then take a hot shower and do 1/2 of yoga. It should refresh you and get you ready for the rest of the work day.
I hope some of this helps. Take care of yourself!
-------------- If you fall down seven times, get up eight.

Well, I did take all of your advise and I went home and slept for 4 hours. When I woke up I felt so much more rested that I went to the gym and lifted for 30 min. I actually felt great. (However, my eyes are feeling all fuzzy still!)
Unfortunatley, I'm afraid that my schedule will never become regular or set in any way. My dept. only has 6 other directors working in it, so if one takes a vacation or calls in sick, everyone has hell to pay. It sux rocks, but the pay is very good. I'm hoping in the next 5-10 yrs, I'll be out of the televsion business and have a more normal job, but for now I'm an endentured servant here!
