I finally hit a new weight on my bench press on Monday I got up 325lbs for 1 rep. I felt I could add another 2.5 pounds on each side to make it 330 but I was glad I did 325 so I stopped there. I found that the speed bench and floor press have really helped my bench especially the mid point of my bench. Thanks to everyone who helped me on getting past 315. I am now looking to improve my deadlift a bit more. I took this week off from deadlifts and I am going for 405lbs in the next 2 weeks and also going to attempt 330lb's on bench press next week. Thank's again guys.

theres no "set" standard godlike.....................by the way snoopy, you are using good form right? i've seen some impressive maxes and gains in highscholl, however 1/2 had their back so arched it was a decline and not a flat bench press.

Yes my form was good and my back was against the bench. I dont cheat myself out of the rep if it goes down and my arms and shoulders cant press it up it just stays there and I dont use my back at all. I know what u mean though I see enough people who's backs are off the bench and also bouncing the bar off there chest. Even if I wanted to use my back I don't think I could.

Well today I wanted to max out on my bench which I haven't done for a few weeks so I got up to my heaviest which was 345lbs. There was doubt in my mind and I thought the bar would have just wouldnt move. So I unrack and bring it down slow and I got it moving a few inches off my chest but then gave out. I have a goal by the 28th of june to get 345lbs so hopefully next week I will put it up. BUt iam just happy I got the bar moving.

I haven't done a max bench press in about 3 weeks and don't plan on doing it till the first week in october. I have been currently doing my speed bench and right after that I will do 2 sets of regualr bench press to failure with a given weight usually 185, 225 or even 275. On max effort day I have been doing floor press and board press so far. I am currently getting a whold bunch of PR's for numerous max effort exercise's (such as board press, floor press etc..) I am also traing my lat very hard and triceps. I actually called up westside barbell and got a lot of my info from there.
