I get really bad cramps in my midsection when I tend to do crunches. What can I do to relieve my body of these type of cramps?

Try stretching. A good abdominal stretch to do is to lie down on your stomach, and gradually arch your back. You can do this by keeping your arms straight, and having them beside your body as though you were doing a push up. Then, push your pelvis into the ground while you try to arch your back as far as you can go. It's like your trying to touch the back of your head to your arse. Hold it for a few seconds, then ease of gradually. This might help, if not, at least your abdomin will be stretched and ready to go.

another possible solution would be for you to go a little easier on your abs work outs... if they're returning such painful results, you might be overdoing them...

Assante, are you taking enough water during your workouts? I know that if you're not, cramping can occur in muscles.

Watch your breathing also. Sometimes people tend to hold their breath while they are working abs, this can lead to cramping.

Another thing that might cause this is not doing full range of motion on the abbs. Some people only do the top half or third of the set up or crunch. Take them slow and steady, come up squeeze the abbs for a count of two, slowly lower your self down, let your back come to a complet rest and stop on the ground, then slowly come up again and repeat. Exhale on the squeeze, inhale on the way down. Its not how many cruches your doing, its how your doing.

My exercise program does not include any abdominal exercises and that is my target area. Is there a reason for this?:surprised:

Did you check the special abs program when you set up your routine?

Also owuld love the abs program I requested. Like so many others. I do , however, realize that the program set for me does include a small amount af abdominal. Most exersizes must use abdomen.
