About how long does it take for your body to adjust to a work out routine before you need to switch it up and the body stops growing?

Depending on the person, 4-8 weeks. The average (obviously) is every 6 weeks, you should change it up. Don't forget to include some "down time".

i would say 6-10 weeks would do the trick. But jcannuck proves a point by saying that you should include some "down time"

How long do you have to wait before you can go back to an old routine, say the one that showed most progress, b/c i find that higher reps lower weight makes me grow more than heavy weight low reps. what does down time mean?....days off?

try this..............have an A. work out..........and an B . work out ..........you need both high / low reps.............what ever you fav excerces do this
( example)
for biceps workout A

barbell curls 15, 12, 10, 8
incline curls 12 12 10 10
hercules 12 12 12
hammer 15 15 15

work out B
barbell 8 6 5 5
standing dumbell curls 8 8 6 6
concentration( on pretcher) 6 6 6
reverse curls 10 10 6 6

do somthing liek this and alternate them do work out A 1st week then the next week do workout B. The switching up will keep your body guessing ..........if you want do a work out C as wel and kinda combine the 2 from above.......but yea also you do need to make sure you get pleanty of rest every 9 or 10 weeks ( depends) and take a good week off. By the time that week is off man you be ready to tear that gym up man!

you can do either, if you switchit up every week like i showed you its pretty much the same thing, your body can't adjust or adapt to it as easly you could probably go 10 weeks or so alternating like this.....hercules are preformed where you have to high cable pullies ge tlight weight and do a double bicep pose with the weight

would it be as effective to switch your routine around, doing other things first (but still keeping the same excersises) and changing how many sets and reps you do? or would that be pointless?
