comes down to time..somtimes I can only get in the weight room once maybe twice a week because of my nationals practice........thing is if you do a 3 day split your gonna have to combine muscle groups( back/chest) stuff like that, and you gonna have to work kinda fast passed cause you wanan keep your work out under an hour and a half........if your gonna be doing lots oh heavy heavy compound lifts ( like power and strength training) using deadlifts, cleans, bench, military, squats i would suggest a 3 day work out, cause going that heavy you might need a lil more time to recover. But if your going for more body building where your focasing more of reps with moderate to lower weight then go to a 4 day split, all depends on preference and what you have time for
