With such a topic so broad we truly try to cover the basics from all angles in this group. Nothing too big or too small. Nutrition is as significant if not more as exercise is to reaching your goals so learn all you can.
Where do I begin. I'm 5'7" and weigh 225. I've gained most of this weight in the past year. Mainly because my husband is overseas and I just got lazy. Well my husband hopefully will be back in April and I want to lose weight so he doesn't come home to an overweight wife. I work full time at the post office and have two little girls to take care of. So as you can see I don't have a lot of time. But I'm really committed to lose weight. But I just need some advice, kind words and support. Anyone out there that can help me?
The first point is to change your mindset... sounds as though you have started! One of the main things to do is change your diet... that will help loads... along with that will be the exercise.... It's suggested to set up a profile so the real pros can help you out and they know what your goals are.
Set up and exercise program on FT... it's all a good start and gives you some great guidelines to exercise....
Walking... walking is perhaps one of the best things a person can do... it's cheap, gets you outside and is great cardio.... whatever you can start with is a good start... five minutes, whatever.. then move up.... that, along with a diet change is a great start...
Resistance training will help too... many exercises can be done without expensive gear.. for dumbells, use cans of soup or veggies... resistance bands are cheap, but you can use surgical bands or large rubberbands which you can get at Staples or other office supply places... ankle and wrist weights are fairly inexpensive and will help too...
You've come to the right place to start... any questions you have will be answered and everyone on this site is very helpful... remember, we were all at one time new to this too!
