Would there a reason why I can't sleep?

Since I started this diet! Making sure I have enough protein, no complex carbs,sugar or added fats! I have 8 egg whites, 2oz nuts, 2 soy protein shakes, 2Lg salads with green vegetables,1 cup peas, and 3 oranges. I have more energy and I'm not craving anything bad anymore! I'm satisfied until my next meal! I do have one problem though! For some reason, I haven't been able to get any sleep the past 3 nights! Last night I bearley got 5 hours! Would there be a reason for this! I don't go to bed on a full stomach, I have my protein shake 3 hours before bed!
Would have anything to do with my body starting to build muscle?

I sugest u to slow down those damn protein shit, i dont take those drinks, and i never will, u have to work harder to get your results, but anyway. The other thing it could be is you have to much energy, u gotta burn it otherwise, running or something...

I do firm tapes, those are aerobics and weight training combined! Most of the ones I do are around 45 minutes, if I do only one around 30 min. then I do more weight lifting and get on my exercise bike for a while so it will be around 45-60 min. I also got some that are around 60 minutes. The other day I did one a little more then 60 minutes and it's called super cardio and man I was tired all day! I also got steps I go up and down all day (15)!
I have to use the protein drks. or I don't get enough protein through out the day!
I'm a lacto-vegetarian I won't eat any flesh or dairy! So that's why I have one protein drk. in the morning and one at night before bed! So I can get enough protein!
Thanks for your post! Do you still think I don't get enough exercise, because normally when I do more then this, I get dizzey and light headed on and off through out the day and my doctor told me it was because I exercise too much! Plus I herd if I want to get rid of my fatty thys, instead of doing all the cardio, do alot more weight lifting and do lots of lunges and squats!
Do you agree, or do you think I need more cardio?

melindaxl, sorry I can't speak to your problem but I doubt it has to do with protein. One of the mods will likely know. I'll bet the sleep thing is temporary. Happens to me too.

Maybe you just have to adjust to having more energy... maybe insomnia!

well do u feel rested? are u tired whenu lie down to sleep?
if ur not tired don't lie down, tossing and turning make u fusterated........do u slep in on weekends? do u get up and go to bed at the same time every day? there r many variables but protein don't have anything to do with it i don't think

Snipura you sound very adimant about protein shakes. I am wondering why is that? I think the are a good alternative to artery clogging red meat.

How long have you been doing this? If you are at the beginning stages it could be the change in your metabolism. And for the protein, there is no harm in it and will only do you good. I would like to know where snipura gets the mal information from.
Keep up the good work, yes the lifting and lunges etc, will drop your bodyfat.

Yes I'm a beginner! I've exercised like this for a long time, but before this I was a raw foodest! I ate only raw fruit and vegetables! I didn't have much energy and strength. Anyway, I always go to bed around midnight and get up around 8 in the morning to exercise! That's a habit! I do that, to make sure I have it done for the day! Plus it get's my body going for the day! It's like an eye opener, and the exercise tapes I do, say to do it on an empty stomach!
This year I never been able to sleep longer then 8 hours! When I get up, I'm never tired either! Later in the day sometimes I take 1-2 hour nap, but only when I normally do heavy exercising! So no I don't sleep in on weekends.
Normally when I have problems sleeping, it's like my body's tired, but my mind's not! It's like I stay awake most of the night just laying in bed!
Well thanks so much for your information! You guys really made me feel better about the protein and the protein shakes because snipura scared me for a second! I was beginning to wonder how am I going to get the rest of my protein! I make sure not to have more then 2 of them a day!
