Happy New Year all.... I slipped this morning and immediately felt some pain in my lower back. Although highly uncomfortable I decided to go to work. After a 45min. drive I arrived and had great difficulty getting out of the car. I'm at work now but afraid to even sit down-I may not be able to get back up. My wife should be here in the next few minutes with painkillers. Need some advice guys and gals. Don’t want to be unable to exercise, not now when I've just begun to see improvement. Got to heal fast - have a meeting with the boss in two hours and a cardio session this evening.
I know all this sounds irrational - got to rest to heal. Are there any shortcuts?

Ouch... I know your pain.
difficult to offer advise on a medical condition so I'm staying away from that.
It sounds like you may have tweaked a nerve, sublaxated disc or similar. Take it easy. If you can get down on all four stretch out mimicking a cat as it wakes in the morning arching your back both concave and convex. Do this slowly and deliberatly, should relieve th pain. Use an ice pack on the area that feels sore, probably around the top of your rear hip bone and toward the spine?
Lastly go and see a physician, sports doctor or chiropractor.

Man, life's funny - I squat, bent row, deadlift no problem - now one little slip and I'm crying with pain - took some painkillers doesn’t seem to help. Just praying to get through this day - go home and relax - hopefully I'll be able to get off the bed tomorrow. Thanks nerraw for the advice will try the 'catstretch' and definitely the ice.
Human beings sure are fragile - but I'm going to make it - pumping the iron sure gives you a new threshold on pain
