Im wanting to trim down my mid section and remove the excess fat and build more muscle in my upper body at the same time. I plan on lifting 5 days a week and on my 2 days off from lifting I will be hitting the heavy bag for about 20 minutes on one day and ride an exercise bike for about 20 minutes on the other day. Is this unrealistic? I've had great results so far but have yet to shed these love handles? In 2 months time is it possible? Also to build even more muscle?

It is very difficult to build up and slim down at the same time. Spend the first month building, the second month slimming.

Is it unrealistic though to get rid of the love handles in 2 months?

Depends on how much is there and your diet. If everything is right (diet and workout) you could probably lose a pretty significant amount.

bigandrew-So I will take wednesday off and just rollover one of my workouts to that day and take 1 day during the weekend to do a bit of cardio to cut some of the extra fat. Sound like a plan?

I think you should have a minimum of 3 days of cardio (5 days max) since you are trying to trim down. Remember, you will most likely not be able to trim down and gain mass at the same time.

You could probably do a 3-day split, depending on your workout and how you feel. I stuck with a 3-day split when my strength training was powerlifting-oriented, but normally, 4-5 days worked the best for me.

goldengloves- your previous post states you want to gain 25lbs of muscle over the next 12 months. That's a lot of weight. IMO to build this type of muscle your going to need to fuel your body with tons of good food to hit this mark. No matter how hard you try your going to gain some fat in bulking. This is why professional BB's cut up after bulking.

I suggest working on getting rid of the love handles first and once your happy at where you are then start to bulk up slowly. You should be alright from there.

I am 63 inches and about 112lbs. I want to lose body fat and gain muscle. How should I go about doing this. This post has blown my mind. Grant it, I am already slim. Therefore, I really don't need to lose weight. Should I concentrate more on burning fat and toning the muscle that I already have for now. And then begin to concentrate on adding muscle.
