I was wondering if bodyweight excercises like pushups and dips help build up bulk in a perticular muscle group, or do they just tone and strengthen the muscle?
No, they will not bulk you up. Bodyweight exercises are only effective to a certain point. In order to build mass you need to create an overload for that muscle which will cause microscopic tears that when properly nourished will rebuild hopefully larger and stronger. Good luck
You need to continually overload your muscle fibers....you will likely continue to build muscular endurance without really building much power or mass....with bodyweight exercises....however you can stay in very good general shape doing those exericses...
